Chelsea vs. Aston Villa, Premier League: You choose the starting lineup
A strangely, and almost uniquely quiet, Boxing Day in the Premier League — just one fixture, fewest since 1982 — will lead to busy day of Day After Boxing Day (not an actual thing) fixtures, including Chelsea hosting high-flying Aston Villa at the Bridge on Saturday night. Villa, perhaps the hottest team in the league, have made themselves part of the title-race conversation, trailing leaders Arsenal by just three points and also surging second-place Manchester City by just one.
The one good thing about all that is that we tend to raise our levels whenever facing the best teams. Another good thing is that young Estêvão should be available after missing both games last week with a minor muscular problem. Liam Delap is also expected back and Cole Palmer is now said to be fully match fit. Good timing for the fixture congestion (Bournemouth and Manchester City coming up right quick)!
Enzo Maresca will be suspended for this match, but he’ll still get to choose the lineup.
