Carson Beck is happy with his decision joining the Miami Hurricanes. Labels it as one of his "better decisions."
There appears to be no regret in Carson Beck's decision.
The Miami Hurricanes' newest quarterback spoke to media and answered questions regarding his decision to transfer.
"This is my future, and I think that this decision is one of the better decisions I've made," Beck said at ACC Kickoff on July 22. "Just trying to develop those relationships and that camaraderie, it's just reinforced my decision in a positive way."
Beck is the former Georgia Bulldogs QB and started for head coach Kirby Smart the last two seasons. After suffering an ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injury in the SEC championship game last year, Beck declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. His time in the draft process was short as the Jacksonville native entered the transfer portal and committed to Miami.
Despite his inconsistent 2024 season, Georgia expressed interest in bringing back Beck for is final year in collegiate sports but he decided a fresh start was needed.
Beck's transfer portal arc lasted all but 48 hours. He entered with a do not contact request, seemingly confirming he had already narrowed down his options entering the portal. With the departure of Heisman finalist Cam Ward, Beck was perfect to slip right into head coach Mario Cristobal's offense. He said the offensive fit was what drew him to choosing Miami over other schools.
"Carson has as good of experience as a quarterback as you can have," Cristobal said.
Current Tennesse Titans quarterback Cam Ward left some big shoes to fill for future Hurricane quarterbacks, but Beck isn't feeling any pressure stating he has been in this position before.
"Obviously his success is undeniable," he said. "The last school I was at, I followed up the two-time national champion, so I didn't really feel any pressure there.
Carson Beck injury update
Beck underwent surgery for the UCL injury after he transferred to Miami and Coach Cristobal confirmed that his quarterback has 'been cleared' and participating in team workouts for several weeks. The update clears any speculation on Beck's participation in the coming fall and his full commitment to the Hurricanes
Beck's career in Georgia
Beck committed to Georgia out of Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, FL. He was in the class of 2020 and was labeled the fifth best pro style QB in the nation, according to 24/7 sports. His career at Georgia started as a backup to Stetson Bennett as the Bulldogs won back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022. He then took over the starting position after Bennett left and played another two years for the Bulldogs.
As a two-year starter at Georgia, Beck started 27 games for the Bulldogs, throwing for 7,426 yards with 57 total touchdowns and 18 interceptions. His 2024 season dropped him in later rounds on NFL team's draft boards after leading the SEC in interceptions with 12.
Carson Beck offseason car issues
Back in February 2025, Beck and then partner at the time, Hanna Cavinder, had their cars stolen overnight in South Florida. Reports say Beck's Lamborghini Urus Performante and Mercedes were missing as well as Cavinder's Range Rover. Cavinder's Range Rover and Beck's Mercedes were found soon after reports were made. Miami-Dade County police arrested a potential suspect of the burglary.
