SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Maverick McIvor played for the Central Bobcats from 2016-19.
Maverick McIvor, a former Central Bobcat quarterback, delivered Western Kentucky fans an early Christmas gift on Tuesday night. McIvor, who now plays quarterback for the Hilltoppers, came off the bench in the second quarter to lift his team to a comeback victory over Southern Mississippi in the New Orleans Bowl.
McIvor entered the game late in the second quarter, replacing injured starter Rodney Tisdale Jr. The Hilltoppers trailed 13-6 at halftime, but outscored the Golden Eagles 21-3 in the second half en route to a 27-16 win. McIvor hadn’t played since Oct 14, when he suffered a left shoulder injury. In his return, he completed 12 of 19 pass attempts for 199 passing yards and recorded a rushing touchdown. His heroics earned him the game’s MVP honor as Western Kentucky finishes its 2025 season with a 9-4 record.
