#WOOF: Washington Adds 2027 In-State CB Commit

The Huskies pick up a pledge from CB Maurice Williams

Washington picked up their second in-state commitment early in the 2027 cycle today when defensive back Maurice Williams from Graham-Kapowsin HS pledged to the Huskies.

Williams is listed at 6’2 and 190 pounds (per his HUDL page) and is currently rated as the #6 player in the state of Washington for 2027 and #433 overall per the 247 Sports Composite. That puts him at a 0.8811 rating which is just short of the 0.89+ that marks four-star status. Washington also has a commitment from four-star WR Braylon Pope who is currently the top-rated player in the state. Williams committed to the Huskies over offers from Arizona State, BYU, and Boise State among others.

Williams won the DB MVP award at the 2026 Under Armour camp in Utah back in May which featured numerous high-quality players in the 2026 and 2027 classes. They noted at the time he had great length and fluidity which provided a high upside as he shifted from more of a safety to an outside corner.

Washington currently has an unsettled secondary moving into the future which will present opportunity for younger players. Washington will be replacing both outside corners next season although one spot will almost certainly be occupied by Dylan Robinson. The Huskies took 5 DBs in the class of 2026 who will be looking for playing time and Williams gets the Dawgs off to a good start in 2027.

Here are Williams’ sophomore year highlights from when he played at Yelm HS (just completed junior season not yet fully available)
