Arsenal Are Keeping A Keen Eye On This AC Milan Full-Back: Should Arteta Move In For Him?

In a recent report, Sky Sports stated that Arsenal are keeping a keen eye on AC Milan full-back Davide Bartesaghi. It is understood that the Gunners are eyeing a move to bring the Italian defender to the Emirates Stadium next year.

Bartesaghi’s Impressive Form In Serie A

Bartesaghi has enjoyed a good run of form at the Italian club as he has produced a few eye-catching displays for them on the left side of their backline. The Italian defensive ace has banged in two goals and earned one assist in 13 matches for AC Milan this season in multiple competitions.

The 19-year-old has performed his defensive duties well and deserves credit for making 15 tackles, 11 blocks, four interceptions and 21 clearances in Serie A. He has even distributed the ball accurately from the left flank, based on his pass success rate of 79.8% in top-flight football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2030. Hence, Arsenal would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about signing Bartesaghi next year.

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Move In For Bartesaghi?

Bartesaghi is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when needed and can even create some inviting chances for his teammates from the left flank.

The Italian talent is primarily a left-back but can also operate as a centre-back if told to do so. However, there are some question marks over whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if the Gunners manage to bring him on board in 2026.

Bartesaghi would bring more quality and depth to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s defence. He is more than capable of fighting for regular first-team football at the Emirates Stadium.

At 19, Bartesaghi has got the ceiling to be a future star in English football as long as he continues to improve with each year. However, the jury is still out on whether he can cope with the physical nature and high intensity of English football. With all things considered, Arteta should focus on moving in for him next year.
