Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Oscar Fraulo (22) poised to make Derby County switch

Denmark’s Tipsbladet reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Oscar Fraulo is on the verge of transferring to Derby County. The 22-year-old Dane once again finds himself without prospects at his Bundesliga outfit, despite the fact that he did manage to score his first Bundesliga goal this season. Overall, Fraulo has made four substitute league appearances this year.

The Danish publication does not offer up details on a potential transfer fee, but it counts as certain that Fraulo will be moving to the EFL Championship on a permanent basis. Fraulo sits on a contract set to expire, meaning that he could conceivably head to Derby County on a free at the end of the current season. The Derbyshire club can still acquire him immediately for a modest fee.

Fraud’s current estimated market value is €3.5m

Why hasn’t Fraulo caught on at Gladbach yet?

BMG sporting management has often remained supportive of the prospect they once paid €2m to acquire from FC Midtjylland in the summer of 2022. Previous Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus, in particular, never formally stopped talking about the youngster’s potential. Fraulo demonstrated that he could work several midfield positions and was heavily linked with a move to Mainz this summer.

Gladbach sent Fraulo on an extended loan to FC Utrecht in the Eredivisie. Over the course of two seasons between 2023 and 2025, Fraulo made 59 Dutch first division appearances and scored five goals. One problem concerns the fact that the Gladbach midfield situation has always been extremely competitive. This year was no exception.
