Genoa are eager to bolster their squad under Daniele De Rossi and have knocked on Juventus and Roma’s doors to ask for Mattia Perin and Niccolò Pisilli. The respective sides aren’t opposed to parting ways with them. However, the pieces of the puzzle need to fit in the right place for the deals to come to fruition.
According to TuttoSport, the veteran goalkeeper favors a return to his former team. He has already had two separate stints there. The Liguri have proposed a three-year contract, but he makes €1.5M in Turin. Moreover, the Bianconeri would let him go only if they found a proper replacement. The backup goalie has become increasingly important in recent years. The 32-year-old has filled in four times so far. They don’t want temporary solutions.
Both Genoa and Juventus have been linked to Christos Mandas, who’s worth about €15M, and Dominik Livakovic, who aren’t starting at Lazio and Girona, to address their respective needs, alternatively to Perin, while De Rossi is pushing to reunite with Pisilli, who showed well during his short stint on the Roma bench.
The youngster will have a heightened role in January, as he’ll be the top deputy in the midfield while Neil El Aynaoui is away for AFCON 2025. The Giallorossi could be open for business, but they’d like to obtain Morten Frendrup in return, Fabrizio Romano reports (via SOSFanta).
Our Take on Genoa, Juventus, and Roma
While the buzz about Perin seems more serious than in previous instances, there’s no way the Bianconeri will spend on a no.12 while they have to count the pennies. Swapping out a cornerstone for a youngster would kind of defeat the purpose of adding Pisilli.
