What’s it like to always lose? Inside an NFL star’s fight against failure: ‘It takes a toll’ | The Athletic

Mired in another season of double-digit losses, Burns hasn’t become numb to the pain of defeat. If anything, the mounting frustration only drives him more. That’s why he’s managed to have his most successful individual year despite another lost season.

“The individual success is cool,” Burns said. “But at the end of the day, you still want to win. I’ll never get used to losing, so that’s just the most aggravating part about my career so far….It takes a toll on you because it’s like, ‘I’ve been putting in all this work; I’m having success at my job, but at the end of the day, I still can’t get the end result, which is what I want. The toughest part is keeping that edge. Once you get to a point where it feels like you’re not playing for nothing, it’s easy for it to slip away.”

New York Giants’ Paulson Adebo dismisses external talk about tanking | USAToday.com

Veteran cornerback Paulson Adebo, who is in his first year with the team, told reporters on Monday that “tanking” is not on the Giants’ minds at all. They want to win.

“Yeah, I just approach every game the same way, whether it’s first game of the season, last game of the season, so that’s nothing that we really think about,” he said.

How Giants Should Proceed with Top Pending Unrestricted Free Agents | SI.com

Jermaine Eluemunor is is the Giants’ highest-rated pass blocker on the starting line (min. 500 pass blocking snaps) outside of Andrew Thomas. While it hasn’t been a perfect showing at times for Eluemunor, he has been more than serviceable, and he has been pretty much durable, missing just three games since donning the Big Blue jersey.

The Giants drafted Marcus Mbow this past year, perhaps with the intention of plugging him in at right tackle once Eluemunor’s contract expired.  But there is no reason why the Giants can’t have both players in the starting lineup next year if they consider moving Mbow to right guard to replace Greg Van Roten and let the young man cut his teeth next to Eluemunor on that right side. Spotrac projects a two-year, $17.787 million contract ($8.9 million APY) for Eluemunor.

NFL Draft 2026: Should Giants trade No. 1 pick to Jets? | NJ.com

A Giants-Jets trade for the No. 1 pick (and a quarterback) would be a juicy development. The Jets have the ammo to move up after their midseason fire sale. In the 2026 draft, they have an extra first-round pick and two total second-rounders. In 2027, the Jets have three total first-rounders. The Jets have eight picks in the first two rounds over the next two drafts, including five in Round 1.

The Jets would have no problem offering the Giants enough to move up from No. 4 to No. 1 — or even from a lower spot to No. 1. (Of course, if the Raiders have the top pick, they’ll just take a quarterback there.) And the Giants have so many roster holes that they need all the premium picks they can get, as they build around quarterback Jaxson Dart, who has put together an encouraging but not elite rookie season.

The Giants need to have a hard Jaxson Dart conversation — and that’s troubling in itself | New York Post

This team ruins pretty much everything. It is not always the fault of the Giants themselves, but mostly it is. Bad play, bad injuries, bad karma, bad coaching, bad roster deployment, bad vibes, bad looks.

So much has already been ruined this season. The Giants better not ruin Jaxson Dart in these last two games.

Rookie of the year: Quarterback Jaxson Dart. The rookie quarterback has hit a recent rough stretch after his concussion, including Sunday’s ugly 33-yard passing performance. But it hasn’t soured the Giants’ view on Dart. Interim coach Mike Kafka still believes he’s playing good football. Dart has 20 total touchdowns and seven turnovers in 10 starts. He has also rushed for over 400 yards. Several impending free agents on the team have said Dart’s presence is a significant selling point to return.

Maxx Crosby, Brock Bowers named to Pro Bowl team | Silver and Black Pride

This is Crosby’s fifth consecutive Pro Bowl selection. Heading into Week 17, the Raiders’ star edge rusher ranks second in the league in tackles for loss (28), trailing only the Cleveland Browns’ Myles Garrett. Crosby leads the Raiders in sacks (10.0), quarterback hits (20) and is tied for the most pass deflections (six).

Bowers earned his second consecutive Pro Bowl selection, leading the Raiders in receptions (64), receiving yards (680) and receiving touchdowns (seven). With two games remaining in the season, he needs 107 yards to surpass Mike Ditka (1,980) for the most receiving yards by a tight end in his first two seasons in NFL history.

Raiders sign G Atonio Mafi, place C/G Jordan Meredith on Reserve/Injured list | Raiders.com

The Raiders signed G Atonio Mafi to the active roster and placed C/G Jordan Meredith on the Reserve/Injured list, the team announced Monday.

Mafi joined the Silver and Black’s practice squad after a 2024 season with the Indianapolis Colts, where he began the season on the practice squad before being elevated to the active roster. He was elevated from the practice squad by the Raiders in Week 13 and played 31 snaps. The 6-3, 330-pound guard out of UCLA has played in 21 career games (five starts) with the Raiders, New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts since entering the NFL as a fifth-round pick (144th overall) by the New England Patriots in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Rookie of the year: Running back Ashton Jeanty. Jeanty, the No. 6 pick, hasn’t had the season he and many others expected. But his performance against the Texans (188 total yards and two touchdowns) was a reminder of why the Raiders drafted him so high. Despite the Raiders’ run-blocking struggles, Jeanty has still gained 828 yards and 10 total touchdowns. “I’m sure there’s people questioning and doubting [Jeanty],” coach Pete Carroll said Sunday. “It can mount on a young guy, can mount on anybody. For him to show like that, it’s a beautiful expression of who he is and what he’s all about.”
