Chelsea will continue to look at attacking options in 2026 after pulling out of the race to sign Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo according to David Ornstein.

The Blues made an enquiry for Semenyo, who has a £65m release clause in his contract active for the first ten days in January.

Chelsea’s interest came as something of a surprise considering they’d signed two left wingers in Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens in the summer.

Chelsea to keep looking at attacking options after Semenyo debacle

However, Chelsea’s interest in Semenyo was short lived, and it looks like the Ghana international will join Manchester City next month.

Chelsea already have Geovany Quenda joining next summer after agreeing a deal with Sporting Lisbon earlier this year, whilst striker Emmanuel Emegha will also join from Strasbourg at the end of the season.

Despite missing out on Semenyo, Ornstein has reported the Blues will continue to look at attacking options in 2026.

He took to X.com and said:

“Chelsea decide against pursuing Antoine Semenyo.

“#CFC made initial enquiry but not planning to go further.

“Confidence in depth + quality of existing options – will continue to look at attacking in signing in 2026 & reward leading players.”

Chelsea saying they have confidence in their existing options doesn’t make sense, because they wouldn’t have enquired for Semenyo if that was the case.

Estevao in line to return against Aston Villa

Chelsea have spent a lot of money on wingers in recent transfer windows to varying degrees of success, but one they look to have got right is Estevao.

The Brazilian has made an instant impact, and has scored five goals in all competitions, including three in the Champions League.

The 18-year-old has missed the last two games with a muscle injury, but he should be available for Saturday’s game against Aston Villa, in what would be a huge boost for Chelsea.
