Rumour Mongering: Origi Becomes A Free Agent

Football is currently nothing.

Liverpool FC hero Divock Origi has reportedly been released from his contract, according to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport.

This comes over two years since the striker last played for the Italian side. Origi had joined the Italian giants after his contract with Liverpool expired, but fell out of favour after registering two goals in 36 games in the 2022/23 campaign. The striker then went on loan to Nottingham Forest for the 23/24 campaign, but has since been frozen out at Milan entirely, having not featured at all and left to train with the team’s U23s.

This leaves Origi free to sign with any club, which could be attractive to several teams needing help up top, including those in Europe, MLS, or even Saudi Arabia.

Milan have chosen to replace Origi with West Ham United’s Niclas Fullkrug on a loan deal, which is a curious move since Fulkrug has been nothing short of a disappointment in his time at the East London club.

Given the crucial goals he has scored for the club and the injury woes, there will be a subset of Liverpool fans calling out for a reunion. Still, it seems really unlikely, given that Divock hasn’t played much football recently. We wish Divock all the best and hope he can find a place to play regular football soon. After all, football without Origi is nothing.
