One of the biggest talking points concerning Real Madrid at this point happens to be Vinicius Jr. and his future at the club.

The 25-year-old attacker has been one of the team’s most important players in recent years, but his form has been largely underwhelming in recent weeks, leading to him being whistled at by fans at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Moreover, with his contract expiring in 2027, talks over a new deal have been at a standstill for a while now, with the Merengues unwilling to meet his signing bonus demands.

Florentino Perez wants Vinicius to stay

However, according to journalist Roberto Gomez on Radio MARCA, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez simply does not want to let Vinicius leave the club.

As such, the Spanish capital club’s roadmap is absolutely clear – to secure the forward’s contract renewal at the earliest possible.

In fact, the journalist went on to add at that “it is likely his contract renewal will be announced shortly.”

If true, this represents a sudden shift in the scenario, given that recent reports had suggested new talks over an extension might not take place until after the FIFA World Cup next year.

Furthermore, it has even been suggested that the recent jeers and whistles from the fans had left Vinicius in doubt about penning a new contract at the club.

But, president Perez remains firm on wanting to retain Vinicius at the club and things could move swiftly in the coming weeks as Real Madrid absolutely do not wish to let the Brazilian international leave.

Whether that means the two parties reach a compromise on the player’s financial demands or the club decide to meet them remains to be seen.
