Kam Williams has an epic day vs. Bellarmine to put himself in Kentucky Basketball history

Kam Williams was scorching hot against Bellarmine

The Kentucky Wildcats defeated Bellarmine on Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 99-85. The Cats had one of their best offensive games of the season, coming in large part thanks to the efforts of Kam Williams.

Known as a shooter, Williams was someone Kentucky desperately needed to get going, and he did just that inside Rupp Arena. His final stat line off the bench looked like this: 26 points on 8/10 shooting from 3-point range in just 23 minutes of action.

Williams became the first Kentucky Basketball player to hit 8+ triples in a game since Immanuel Quickley at Texas A&M in 2020.

The Tulane transfer is now one of just 11 Wildcats all-time to hit 8+ 3-pointers in a single game, and his eight makes are tied for the fourth-most all-time in one game. He’s now in the same breath as names like Jodie Meeks, Tony Delk, Malik Monk, and Jamal Murray.

Williams came into the game averaging just 5.1 points per game and had made just nine 3s in the entire season before today and just six through the Wildcats’ first 10 games. But anyone who watched Williams as a true freshman at Tulane knew he was capable of lighting it up from deep.

Thankfully, Williams is finally finding his groove as the Wildcats are getting healthy. In his last three games, he’s made 11/17 from behind the arc. He is also used as a primary defender this season and excels in that role thanks to his length and athleticism, making him a textbook example of a 3-and-D player.

Williams will look to keep his hot streak going as the Wildcats get roughly 10 days off ahead of SEC play. He will be a key piece of the team’s offense in conference play and beyond.

The Wildcats’ next game will come in 2026 as the calendar flips. They will take on Alabama on January 3rd at 12:00 PM ET on ESPN. That’s a game Kentucky really needs Williams to shine in to have any hope of upsetting a top-15 Crimson Tide squad in their own building.
