Kylian Mbappe is reportedly set to receive a new shirt number at Real Madrid after club legend's exit.

Kylian Mbappe gives a thumbs-up to Real Madrid fans

Kylian Mbappe is reportedly set to don a new shirt number at Real Madrid for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

Mbappe joined Los Blancos from Paris Saint-Germain on a five-year contract last year, becoming the first player to wear the No. 9 shirt after Karim Benzema, who parted ways with Real Madrid in 2023.

The 26-year-old star forward wears the No. 10 shirt for the France national team and would have preferred the same at Santiago Bernabeu. However, at that time of Mbappe's arrival at Real Madrid, the shirt number belonged to Luka Modric, who received it in the 2017-18 season.

Modric parted ways with Real Madrid this summer following the expiry of his contract and joined AC Milan ahead of the upcoming season. Now, with the club legend's departure, the iconic No. 10 shirt is vacant.

Now, several reports have suggested that Mbappe will receive the No. 10 shirt at Real Madrid.

What's next for Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid?

Even though Real Madrid had an unimpressive run in the 2024/25 campaign, that ended in a second-place La Liga finish and no major trophies, Mbappe's debut season at the club was quite a personal victory.

The France national team captain scored 44 goals across all competitions, winning the Pichichi Trophy for La Liga's top scorer and the European Golden Boot.

Los Blancos are not participating in any preseason friendly matches as most of their break in between campaigns was occupied by the Club World Cup.

Now, Mbappe and Real Madrid have a new season upcoming, starting with their opening La Liga match against Osasuna on August 19 at Santiago Bernabeu.
