Scheffler speaks after Open win.

You’d think winning your fourth major would change a man. Make him strut a little. Maybe throw around some swagger. Not Scottie Scheffler. The man just lifted the Claret Jug at Royal Portrush and spent more time talking about diapers than domination.
Scheffler, 29, won the 2025 Open by four shots over Harris English, completing the third leg of a career grand slam. But golf wasn’t the focus when he stood in front of reporters. His heart was somewhere else, back home with his wife, his son, and his friends from childhood.
“My faith and my family, that’s what’s most important to me,” he said. “I try to live as normal a life as possible because I feel like a normal guy. I don’t think I’m anything special because some weeks I’m better at shooting a lower score than other guys are.”

Despite being compared to Tiger Woods by both Shane Lowry and Xander Schauffele, Scheffler shrugged it off. “Tiger won 15 majors. I’ve got four. I think Tiger stands alone,” he said. “He was inspirational for me growing up.”
That humility ran deep throughout his Sunday reflections. “Winning the Open is amazing,” he admitted. “But it doesn’t fulfill the deepest desires of your heart.”
He wasn’t trying to be philosophical. He was just being real. “Am I grateful? Oh my gosh, yes,” he said. “But just because you win a tournament, it doesn’t make you happy. Maybe for a few days. That’s it.”
The sweetest moment came when he held the Claret Jug with one arm and his 14-month-old son Bennett in the other. “He has no clue what’s going on,” Scheffler said, smiling broadly. “But he’s already swinging a club. That’s pretty cool.”
For Scheffler, winning the Open was big. But going home to his people? That’s the real prize.
