Rockies announce additional members of 2026 coaching staff

The Rockies announced multiple familiar faces as members of the 2026 coaching staff under manager Warren Schaeffer.

On Monday afternoon the Colorado Rockies announced additional members of manager Warren Schaeffer’s coaching staff with the retention of Ron Gideon, Andy González, and Jordan Pacheco for the 2026 season.

Gideon, 61, has been named to a new role as the assistant bench coach for Jeff Pickler after serving the last seven seasons as the Rockies’ first base coach and outfield coach. He first joined the Rockies organization in 1996 and has served in a variety of player development, coordinator, and scouting roles over the last 30 years. He first joined the Rockies’ Major League coaching staff in 2019.

González, 44, will continue his duties as third base coach and infield coach. After his playing career, González joined the organization and has filled multiple roles including fundamentals coordinator and supervisor of development. He was named a Major League assistant hitting coach prior to the 2022 season, a role he held until midway through the 2025 season when he transitioned into his current role.

Pacheco, 39, has been named an assistant hitting coach for Brett Pill. Pacheco was the hitting coach for his hometown Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes for four seasons before he was named an interim hitting coach for the Major League team last May. Originally a ninth round draft pick of the Rockies in 2007, Pacheco had a 14-year professional career that included Major League playing time with the Rockies, Cincinnati Reds, and Arizona Diamondbacks.

It is currently unknown if Nic Wilson, who worked with Pacheco as an interim hitting coach last season, will remain with the Rockies organization.

In addition, the Rockies have also announced that bullpen catchers Chris Rabago and Kyle Cunningham will remain with the organization for the 2026 season.

Rabago, 32, was originally a 13th round pick by the Rockies in the 2014 draft and joined the Major League staff last season as a bullpen catcher. In addition to his duties as a bullpen catcher, Rabago has also been named the Rockies’ catching instructor for the 2026 season.

Cunningham, 31, first joined the Rockies as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He became a Major League bullpen catcher after his professional career ended in 2019, a role he has held for the last seven seasons. Cunningham was given additional responsibilities for game planning and advanced scouting prior to the 2025 season and will retain these duties for 2026.

With these moves, the Rockies Major League coaching staff is largely complete for the 2026 season, though there are still some holes—such as first base coach—to fill. The Rockies have yet to finalize or formally announce their coaching staff.
