Your vote will determine who will be the Faber Builders Boys Sports Athlete of the Week for December 15-21. The players' credentials are listed above the poll — which will be live until 8 p.m. Wednesday. The winner will be announced on our Instagram page Friday morning.

The nominees are chosen by our sports reporters. If you would like to call attention to an athlete's performance to be considered for the nomination, please email [email protected]. All athletes who play on Section V boys teams are eligible to be nominated.

Section V Athlete of the Week presented by Faber Builders.

Kylan Burdick

The Section V Indoor Track and Field season shot put leaderboard has a new leader, a senior at Canisteo-Greenwood. Burdick put the shot 54 feet and 1/2 inch during a meet at Houghton University. The next best effort in the region so far this season is 50-8.50.

Harper Capuano

His senior year season in indoor and field track and field is off to a strong start. The Irondequoit jumper long jumped a Section V season-best 23 feet-3.25 inches at a meet hosted by SUNY Brockport. Capuano also has the second-best high jump this season in the region.

Brayden Chase

A senior with the LeRoy basketball team who scored 48 points in three games, an average of 16 in the two wins and one loss. Chase scored 22 of those points, including 11 in the third quarter of a runaway win over Avon. He also had five rebounds and three steals. Chase made four 3-point shots, had 3 assists and 2 steals as he finished with 15 points during another runaway win over Pavilion.

Barrett David

A sophomore on the South Seneca wrestling team who earned his 100th varsity win.

Jackson Green

A junior who is 6 feet-6 inches tall and on the Penfield basketball team, helped the Patriots win two games by scoring 42 points. A total of 32 points came during Penfield's 89-73 win over Victor, as Jackson also grabbed 11 rebounds during the Monroe County Division I game.

Samson Mckissick Staley

A senior on the Pittsford wrestling team who was named the outstanding wrestler at the upper weights during the Chris Bourne Monroe County Championships at Webster Schroeder. Mckissick Staley, a state finalist in 2025, won the 150-pound tournament.

Christopher Noto

A state champion in 2025, Noto was named the outstanding wrestler at the light weights during the Chris Bourne Monroe County Wrestling Championships. Noto, a senior at Honeoye Falls-Lima, won the 138-pound tournament at Webster Schroeder.

Xavier Scott

A senior at Wellsville who ran the fastest 55-meter hurdles race this season in Section V Indoor Track, 7.72 seconds during a meet at Houghton University. So far, Scott is the only runner in the region to finish a race in less than eight seconds.

Joshua Tara

A junior at Webster Schroeder who became the first Section V indoor track and field athlete to clear 15 feet this season. Tara won an event during a meet at Nazareth University when he jumped 15 feet.

Beckham Taylor

A member of the 2025 Democrat and Chronicle All-Greater Rochester Indoor Track and Field Team who cleared 6 feet-7 inches in the high jump event during a meet at Nazareth University. Taylor, a senior at Pittsford Sutherland, has the top jump this season in Section V.

Stratos Triantafilou

Greece Storm goalie posted a .952 save percentage across three games last week, including a 57-save performance on Saturday against Webster Schroeder.

Nathan Zimmerman

Wayne-Finger Lakes goalie made 36 saves in a win over Churchville-Chili on Friday, then followed with a 30-save shutout over previously undefeated Irondequoit on Saturday.
