The Georgia Bulldogs are touchdown favorites against Ole Miss. We take a quick look at Georgia's rematch history and note how both teams have improved
The Georgia Bulldogs will have their second rematch of the season against the Ole Miss Rebels. Georgia already beat Ole Miss 43-35 back in October and will try to do it again with even bigger stakes.
Georgia coach Kirby Smart has a good track record in rematches. He helped Georgia avenge their only loss of the season with a dominant 28-7 win over the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC championship. Smart also helped Georgia beat Texas twice in 2024. The Bulldogs defeated Alabama in the 2021 national championship after falling to the Crimson Tide in the SEC championship. Georgia also beat Auburn in the 2017 SEC championship after losing on the road to Auburn during the regular season.
Georgia plays Ole Miss in the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff. The Rebels are coming off a 41-10 win in the first-round over the Tulane Green Wave. Georgia and Ole Miss will play in the Sugar Bowl at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 1 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Georgia has opened as seven-point favorites over Ole Miss. The Bulldogs and Rebels are widely expected to have another high-scoring contest, but both teams' defenses have improved since their October meeting. Georgia has not allowed an opponent to score over 21 points since the game against Ole Miss, while the Rebels have notched six straight wins and not allowed opposition to score more than 26 points.
