It didn’t take long for former Missouri and Cleveland State center Mabor Majak to reunite with head coach Dennis Gates.

According to a report from Drew King of PowerMizzou, Majak has joined Gates’ coaching staff as a graduate assistant for the 2025–26 season.

Majak played under Gates at Cleveland State from 2020 to 2022 before following him to Missouri, where he spent two seasons. During his final year with the Tigers, he appeared in 23 games, averaging just under seven minutes and 1.2 rebounds per game.

He finished his collegiate career at Coastal Carolina, playing in 32 games and averaging 0.8 points and 1.4 rebounds in 7.5 minutes per game.

The 7-foot-2 South Sudan native becomes the second former player of Gates’ to join the staff, following former teammate Tre Gomillion, who became a graduate assistant ahead of the 2024 season.

Mizzou’s coaching staff saw several changes this offseason, including the additions of assistant coaches Steve Wright and David "Dickey" Nutt—who returns to a full-time role after serving last year as an advisor. Gates also added new general manager Tim Fuller and Griffin McHone as the director of basketball operations.

Meanwhile, the Tigers said goodbye to associate head coach Charlton Young, now at Miami, and Rob Summers, who was named head coach at Cleveland State.

After spending just one year apart, Majak is reunited with his former coach as they aim to build on a Tiger team that notched 22 wins and earned a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament, marking Missouri’s second appearance in three years under Gates.
