Caleb Williams has huge stamp of approval from Tom Brady after ex-USC legend beats Packers

Bears quarterback and former USC Trojans icon Caleb Williams is the hottest name in Chicago sports after the Bears kickstarted their eventual playoff push with a 22-16 overtime win at Soldier Field against the Packers Saturday night. This saw an NFL icon pay his respect, too.

The Chicago Bears began punching their playoff ticket Saturday night with an emphatic 22-16 triumph against the Green Bay Packers, securing the win thanks to some Caleb Williams magic under center.

Williams' 46-yard game-winner to D.J. Moore was a ridiculous gamble that paid off in the most poetic way possible, which even got an NFL legend to chime in his two cents.

For the second time this season, Bears-Packers was called by the crew of Kevin Burkhardt (play-by-play) and former seven-time Super Bowl championship quarterback Tom Brady (color commentary).

As exciting as the finish wound up being, it was Brady who made have had the greatest reaction to one of the best NFL endings in Week 16 thus far.

"They go for the jugular ... 10 out of 10, A-plus throw by Caleb Williams ... the throw of Caleb Williams' life," Brady voiced to the millions watching at home.

Williams said he knew himself he had won the game for the Bears almost immediately.

“Yeah, I knew it was good,” Williams told reporters. “You got that belief, you got that confidence, you got that swagger as an offense. You practice well, you hit plays like that in practice. It was pretty identical to practice. When the play gets called and the moment comes up like that, it’s time to go hit it, it’s time to go win the game.”

That "belief" was a huge step for the Bears as the Pittsburgh Steelers overcame a furious rally from the Detroit Lions to steal a 29-24 road win Sunday. It wasn't just a win for the Steelers, as their efforts propelled the Bears to officially clinch a postseason berth.

Should the Bears beat either the San Francisco 49ers or exact revenge against the Lions in Week 17 or 18, the Bears would be NFC North champions.

But, for now, the first step is complete.
