Representing UL football at SBC Media Days was offensive lineman Jax Harrington, who will look to lead Cajuns' offense this fall.
NEW ORLEANS — The unsung heroes of last season for Louisiana football its offensive linemen, but heading into this fall, UL coach Michael Desormeaux is making sure those guys get their recognition.
At the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Media Days on Tuesday, Desormeaux could’ve brought a skill player to represent the Ragin’ Cajuns offense. He opted instead for senior offensive lineman Jax Harrington.
“I think the leadership Jax brings is something that’s unquestioned in the offensive side of the ball,” Desormeaux said. “He’s played the most snaps out of anybody on the offensive side and he’s somebody that embodies what this program is about. He chose to come here.”
The lineman’s leadership within the Cajuns’ O-line will be crucial this season, especially after graduating one of their anchors, Landon Burton, and sending another to the NFL in AJ Gillie.
Put him in the game
Harrington is arguably the biggest returner for the Cajuns heading into this upcoming 2025 season and apparently, the video game Gods think so too. Listed at 6-foot-4 and 327 pounds, Harrington is the highest-rated UL player in the latest NCAA College Football 2026 video game with an 85 overall rating out of 99.
“It’s a dream come true, it really is,” Harrington said. “It’s surreal because I was playing the game on like a PS2 whenever I was younger and there was just (jersey) numbers and players (names) weren’t even in the game. Whenever I look at it, it’s like this will be a piece of history that I’ll be able to show my kids and stuff like that.”
Along with Harrington, the second-highest rated Cajun player was redshirt senior safety Tyree Skipper, who was also a representative for the Cajuns at this year’s SBC Media Day. The 6-2, 207-pounder is rated 84 in the game.
“It could have been a little bit more but I’m still blessed to have that overall,” Skipper said. “I don’t like how they have all these other schools, though, with multiple stars on defense and we only got one. I don’t like that.”
Building up a core
Alongside Harrington, the three other staple offensive lineman heading into this season are redshirt junior Byrant Williams, fifth-year senior George Jackson and senior long snapper Carter Milliron. Finding a fifth lineman will be key for the Cajuns as they look to solidify their offensive wall this fall.
A darkhorse to earn that spot is redshirt junior Kaden Moreau, who served as a reserve lineman for UL last season.
“He’s gonna be our left guard this year,” Harrington said. “Kaden Moreau’s been rotating with me since he’s been here and at first it was like a drive a game, then it was two drives a half, and then it’s you go here you, go there. Kaden has been a starter every time I’ve been hurt and there’s never been a drop off. He plays nasty; he plays fast.”
Harrington and the rest of the Cajun lineman will look to carry the load once again this season and help the team live up to the preseason hype. It was picked to win the West Division this fall and to do that will take those unsung heroes contributing.
“I think we’ll smash that,” Harrington said. "I think we’ll be the No. 1 in the entire conference."
