Josep Martinez emerged as one of the few positives for Inter on a disappointing night in Riyadh, as Italian media delivered mixed verdicts on the Nerazzurri’s performances following their Supercoppa Italiana exit against Bologna.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Barcelona goalkeeper was Inter’s standout performer, earning a 6.5 rating after a solid display that kept the team in the contest.

Martinez shared the highest Inter score with Stefan de Vrij, Luis Henrique, Federico Dimarco and Marcus Thuram.

All of whom were judged to have delivered reliable performances despite the eventual penalty shootout defeat.

Cristian Chivu himself received a pass mark, as did Piotr Zielinski, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Lautaro Martinez and Diouf.

Several key players, however, fell below expectations.

Alessandro Bastoni and Davide Frattesi were both rated 5.5.

Meanwhile Nicolò Barella endured a particularly difficult outing, receiving a 5.

The harshest assessments were reserved for Yann Bisseck and Ange-Yoan Bonny.

Both youngsters were handed a 4.5 rating, the lowest among Inter players.

Indeed after costly errors that weighed heavily on the team’s performance and momentum.

Overall, Gazzetta’s ratings painted a clear picture of Inter’s night: encouraging signs from Martinez and parts of the squad, but too many individual lapses at crucial moments, leaving Chivu’s side to rue missed opportunities and fine margins once again.
