Syracuse men’s basketball: predictions vs Northeastern

Orange look to tame the Huskies

It’s some Saturday afternoon hoops from the JMA Dome. The Syracuse Orange (7-4) men’s basketball team will host the Northeastern Huskies (4-5) in the second-to-last non-conference game of the season. The action starts at 4:00 in the JMA Dome and streaming on ACCNX. Here’s what we’re predicting:

Kevin:Syracuse 83, Northeastern 59

As sloppy as Wednesday night was, there were signs that the Orange are going to click for a game and I think it’s tomorrow. Finals are done. Whatever virus ran through the time appears to be gone and I think we’ll see some limited Freeman minutes in this one. A better start allows Autry to rotate players more and keep applying the pressure. Syracuse continues to attack the paint and fans get to enjoy a relaxing afternoon of hoops.

Dom: Syracuse 79, Northeastern 62

I’m personally not as high on Northeastern killing the Orange from three, but it does have a few shooters who will be annoying and make a few to keep Syracuse from really blowing this game open. That said, William Kyle should be able to dominate around the paint and the guards are trending up enough to at least put points on the board. Also, not expecting Syracuse to turn the ball over as much as it did against Mercyhurst, which was the only key reason why that contest ended up being as close as it was. That won’t be the case against Northeastern.

Sam:Syracuse 73, Northeastern 61

I can’t put any confidence in the Syracuse offense at the moment, regardless of the opponent. Northeastern is a well-coached mid-major team that has been extremely inconsistent and difficult to get a read on, also battling a variety of injuries. The Orange should take care of business, but won’t look pretty doing it.
