Just days after ranting about how being the best golfer in the world doesn't necessarily fulfill him, Scottie Scheffler added another trophy to his mantle on Sunday after winning The Open.

Scheffler ended up shooting a 68 on Sunday and totaled a score of 17-under, which allowed him to comfortably beat out the world's No. 19 player, Harris English. The victory marks Scheffler's fourth of 2025, and also helps him continue to pull away on the PGA Tour FedEx Cup leaderboard.

While fans have walked away impressed with Scheffler, his peers seem to be equally impressed. World No. 2 and Masters Champion, Rory McIlroy, admitted that Scheffler is the "bar" that every player is striving to reach at the moment, and former World No. 2 Phil Mickelson found himself having to eat some crow on Sunday.

Back in March, Mickelson predicted that Scheffler wouldn't win in 2025 before September's Ryder Cup.

A sentiment that he seemed to hope people forgot he had, as he took to X to congratulate Scheffler.

As expected, many fans had plenty to say to Mickelson.

"But I thought he wasn’t going to win another one this year," joked one user.

"Phil got some explaining to do about that tweet," said another.

"You were dead wrong about him not winning before the Ryder cup! Wayyyyy off," wrote a third.

"Is this the Nostradamus whom predicted zero Scottie wins until after the Ryder," questioned another.

"Switch up is crazy," said another.

While Mickelson had a rough tournament overall, finishing tied for No. 56, he did put together a strong final round, shooting a 67.

In addition to learning from his earlier mistakes in the tournament, he may have also gotten a great lesson in not doubting Scheffler.
