Tyler Mawhinney, Phillip Dunham named to U.S. Junior National golf team

Two First Coast junior golfers made the USGA Junior National team for a third year in a row.

Tyler Mawhinney of Fleming Island and Phillip Dunham of Ponte Vedra Beach have been named to the United States Golf Association Junior National team for the third year in a row.

The USGA created the national team in 2023 as part of the U.S. National Development Program. The 2026 roster has 12 junior boys and 12 junior girls from 10 states, with 14 players returning from the 2025 team.

Tyler Mawhinney of Fleming Island joined Phillip Dunham of Ponte Vedra Beach in being named to the U.S. Junior National golf team for the third year in a row.

Members of the team receive year-round support, including coaching and analysis, sports psychology, and nutritional guidance.

Last year’s team members made 34 collective appearances in USGA championships, nine in the U.S. Junior Amateur, eight in the U.S. Amateur and seven in the U.S. Junior Girls.

Four of the U.S. Junior Team players will receive USNDP grants. The USGA distributed more than $865,000 to 109 junior golfers and their families to assist with costs related to tournament travel, coaching and equipment.
