Down 16? No problem for the ‘Team of Destiny’ Seahawks.
Can you win the game in the fourth quarter?!! Well, the Seattle Seahawks technically didn’t, because they needed overtime to beat the Los Angeles Rams.
After falling behind 30-14, Sam Darnold threw what looked to be a game-clinching interception to Kobie Turner. That should’ve been a wrap given the Seahawks hadn’t forced a punt all night on defense and the offense was mostly on the struggle bus again.
Rashid Shaheed’s 58-yard punt return touchdown sparked what is the greatest 4th quarter comeback in Seattle’s 50 seasons of existence.
An A.J. Barner touchdown, followed by the craziest two-point conversion ever, and then an overtime Octopus from Sam Darnold, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Eric Saubert (!!!) wrapped up an astonishing 38-37 win for the Seahawks.
Prior to Thursday night, the Seahawks were 0-172 when trailing by 15+ points in the fourth quarter. Guess what? They’re now 1-172. I guess they were due, and that’s the difference between likely playing for the Wild Card and leading the NFC West with two weeks to go. At this moment, the Seahawks are the NFC’s No. 1 seed thanks to one of the craziest comebacks in franchise history, and dare I say NFL history given the context and flow of that game.
