Quarterback Dylan Raiola continues to be a hot-buttoned topic around the college football community, especially given his reported decision to enter the transfer portal.
Teams have started to emerge as possible new spots for Raiola, but according to ESPN's Greg McElroy, one of them seems like an easy choice.
"If Dante Moore does decide to go to the NFL, well then, the Oregon Ducks offer a place that could be a perfect landing spot," McElroy said on "Always College Football."
But it's much bigger. In the portal-heavy world of college football, everything is under a microscope according to McElroy.
“The quarterback market is going to be a bit of a wild one this time of year,” McElroy said. “I think because of how high-profile some of these players are and how high-profile some of those schools are that are going to be in pursuit of some of these players, it makes sense that this could be one of the wilder quarterback carousels that we’ve seen in recent years.”
Get used to the portal being used constantly to find quarterbacks, rather than high school prospects.
Therefore, a program like the Ducks potentially wanting Raiola shouldn't come as a surprise.
"Scouting high school kids is great, but when it comes to the quarterback spot, you cannot win without them,” McElroy said. "“So, it makes a lot of sense that there are a handful of teams that are now opting to go with the one-year or two-year rental transfer when compared to going with a guy that is homegrown from the get-go."
It's unclear where Raiola may end up, but heads may begin to roll if the Ducks end up winning the sweepstakes.
