The Urban Pitch Year in Review: The Best Football Boots of 2025

The final installment of our Year in Review series, we look at our favorite football boot releases of 2025.

A year come, a year gone. Just as there was with kits and music, we saw plenty of exciting boot releases in 2025. Wild colorways, interesting concepts, and eye-opening collaborations — there was a LOT to dive into.

We go headfirst into the best releases of the year, from adidas to Mizuno. Let’s tuck in…

Mizuno Morelia II Proto Ultra Light Japan

A literal masterclass in minimalism, this release oozes class and embodies luxury. Crisp white, the Mizuno Ultra Light Japan is a limited edition release from the Japanese brand and is fantastic. It’s crafted from a single piece of K-Leather to deliver excellence on the pitch for both performance and aesthetic. There are gold highlights throughout to elevate the look but they’re so white, you’d never want to wear them on a muddy field on a Sunday morning, that’s for sure. “Hang it in the Louvre” may be overdone as a phrase now, but this release fits the cliche perfectly.

New Balance x Stone Island Furon v8

This is certainly taking “get the badge in” to a new level. No longer do you need a parka or a thick, knitted jumper to embrace the Stone Island culture. You can now rock up to 5-a-side wearing the brand on your feet, ready to ball. Depending on your playing style, you may go down the route of Bukayo Saka or you may go down the route of Pete Dunham (IYKYK). Either way, I fear for the defender marking you.

PUMA King ‘Pantera Negra’

In celebration of Eusebio, PUMA turned the lights out on the King and went all black. A boot old timers will love, this all black affair takes its nickname straight from the Portuguese icon and takes the King back to its leather roots. Class combined with a vintage style, these scream “cultured,” which is right in my wheelhouse.

adidas Predator 25 Pink

adidas is the best in the game right now. This drop from back in August is the one I’ve chosen but I could have included many different Predator or F50s in this list. However, I’ve gone for one of the most outrageous: this pink release with David Beckham, celebrating his current status as co-owner of Inter Miami. Once an icon on the pitch, these Predators are LOUD, similar to Beckham’s fashion choices and hairstyles throughout his career. I love them.

Nike Tiempo Legend X ‘Luxe’ Andrea Pirlo Inspired

Okay. Let’s relax the pace a little. We’ve gone from an all black boot to a really loud pink boot, so while your whiplash settles, let’s get luxurious again. This Nike Tiempo dropped as a nod to Andrea Pirlo, so you just know that it oozes class. The first “Made in Italy” boots from Nike came back in 2022, and this one carries on that story. I don’t really care about the tech on them because when a boot looks this good, they’re worthy of taking out to the finest ristorante you can, with a bottle of their best red wine.

adidas Predator Precision Elite x Zidane

From one midfield elite to another, this adidas drop celebrated Zinedine Zidane’s greatest and his status as the best in the world back in 2000. The gold, red, and black nods to the Frenchman winning World Player of the Year 25 years ago and is a precision-made remake, almost like-for-like in aesthetic. Nostalgia is rife in football, and with these, I am lapping it up entirely.

Nike Tiempo Legend ‘Luxe’ Made In Italy White

Back to the Tiempo. It was clearly a good year for this silo. This Made in Italy version strips it right back, going with a soft white and letting luxury do the talking quietly. After all, luxury doesn’t have to be loud. Nike let the Mercurial and Phantom create the noise, while the Tiempo sits there coolly, seconds away from lighting a cigar and sipping some whiskey.

PUMA x Pro:Direct Next Ultra ‘Racetrack’ Sao Paulo Edition

The two brands returned to their “Racetrack” collaboration, this time pit stopping in Brazil following their Mexico, Japan, and Miami editions. This one is loud, as you’d expect from somewhere like Sao Paulo. Bright yellow, blue, and green graphics plastered all over the boot, this one is certainly for the more outgoing of personalities. Still, I like the creativity and for me, it’s a great addition to the list.

adidas x The Football Gal Predator

Finishing on a high, this one is one that certainly respects the culture. Diana Al Shammari, aka The Football Gal, has been around for a while crafting incredible customizations on football shirts. Her designs proved incredibly popular, skyrocketing her to one of the top artists in the scene, and the Three Stripes recognized it. This Predator is another wonderful addition to her gallery with bright color and hand-embroidered floral illustrations throughout. Pure art.
