Diego Pavia has had himself an interesting couple of weeks. Will Iowa be able to beat him in Tampa?
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Iowa fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
The College Football Playoff is set. The bowl games are nearly upon us. And for the first time in history, everyone is happy with the matchups, nobody was left on the outside looking in who deserved a shot – the NCAA has perfected its system.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Yeah, that will almost certainly NEVER be true. We’re closer to the NCAA being completely dissolved than we are to them having anything perfected. But nonetheless, we DO have a CFP bracket in place and the bowl games are set.
That includes Iowa’s return trip to Tampa for the ReliaQuest Bowl where they’ll face off with the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Vandy is led by Heisman runner-up Diego Pavia, who made headlines after the voting by trashing the voters for not choosing him and showing up in a club with a sign disparaging winner Fernando Mendoza and the Indiana Hoosiers. Now, Pavia pivots to square off with the Hawkeyes in a game he has already publicly dismissed.
Regardless of his status as a colossal buffoon who is torpedoing his own already low draft stock, Pavia is a tremendous college QB who has had an inspiring story rising from unknown to his recent Heisman campaign. He threw for 3,192 yards and 27 TDs this season with only 8 INTs as he led the Commodores to a 10-2 season.
Now, #14 Vanderbilt is poised to face the Hawkeyes in a game where they’re favored heavily. Vandy opened at -4.5 according to FanDuel Sportsbook. That number has climbed to 6.5 as of this week while the over/under has fallen from 50.5 total points to 47.5.
In this week’s Reacts poll, we want to know from Hawkeye fans what they expect out of this ReliaQuest matchup. Will all of Pavia’s bravado translate to the field with a win over the Hawkeyes? Or can Iowa pull off the win?
And for good measure, we’d like to know how you feel about the CFP bracket this season. Did the committee get it right (OK, OK, did they get anywhere close)? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
