2 Badgers earn All-America honors

Mimi Colyer and Carter Booth won awards ahead of Wisconsin’s Final Four match.

The Wisconsin Badgers are headed to Kansas City to play in the Final Four, facing off against the No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats on Thursday as they look to get more hardware.

Ahead of the match, though, two Badgers were rewarded for stellar seasons: Mimi Colyer and Carter Booth.

Colyer earned her fourth-career AVCA All-America honors, being a First-Team All-American at outside hitter with one of the most impressive seasons in Wisconsin history. She broke the school record for most kills in a season, accumulating 566 kills so far, while reaching double-digit kill totals in every match except for one this season.

So far, she’s the only Badger since 2008 to average over five kills per set, averaging 5.39 this season. With the Badgers season on the line, Colyer had 27 and 23 kills in Wisconsin’s Sweet Sixteen and Elite 8 matchups over Stanford and Texas.

Booth, on the other hand, earned AVCA All-America Third-Team honors, as she’s set to set the Wisconsin record for highest hitting percentage in a season. She’s hitting .454, which is good for second in the country. She’s also leading the team in blocks (123) and blocks per set (1.17).

Booth has also shown up in the biggest moments, tying a career-high in kills (14) in Wisconsin’s win over Stanford.

Wisconsin will need both players to have a strong effort this weekend as they look to make history and get the National Championship back to Wisconsin. First up is Kentucky on Thursday, with the winner facing the winner of Texas A&M and Pitt in the Championship on Sunday.
