Sunderland are closing in on the signing of former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka with the player keen on a return to the Premier League.
According to various reports, both the Black Cats and Bayer Leverkusen – now managed by Erik ten Hag – are close to agreeing a transfer that would see Xhaka provide the newly-promoted team with plenty of top flight experience.
Former Gunners captain Xhaka is set to sign a three-year contract at the Stadium of Light after two seasons with Bayer Leverkusen.
The midfielder helped Leverkusen to the Bundesliga title in his first season with the team finishing second last season.
In total, Xhaka has played 99 games for Die Schwarzroten, scoring six goals and assisting nine more.
