FC Köln reach agreement with Ajax’s Ahmetcan Kaplan, also target Heidenheim’s Leo Scienza

Sky Germany has new news on a report emerging yesterday involving FC Köln’s attempts to acquire Turkish youth international Ahmetcan Kaplan. The German broadcaster claims that the newly-promoted Bundesliga outfit has agreed to personal terms with the Ajax centre-Back. The Dutch club nevertheless still demands a €6m transfer fee. Köln wish to pay less for the €5m-valued defender.

In other Köln-related personnel news, Sky’s Patrick Berger reports that die Geißböcke are interested in acquiring Brazilian attacker Leonardo Scienza from FC Heidenheim. The 26-year-old made the leap from the German third division to the Bundesliga last season after signing with Heidenheim from then 3. Liga side SSV Ulm 1846.

Scienza didn’t manage to secure regular playing time with Frank Schmidt’s FCH, but still scored six goals and registered eight assists in 37 appearances across all competitions. The former Schalke and Magdeburg professional played a vitally important role for Heidenheim in the promotion-relegation playoffs.

Köln have reportedly inquired about a loan deal with a purchase option. Heidenheim are nevertheless more interested in generating some revenue via a sale. Scienza maintains an estimated market value of €3m.
