Real Madrid have long admired Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri. The former Atletico Madrid ace has been constantly linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu since last year following the retirement of Toni Kroos.
Nothing materialised last summer and at the moment. Now, with Luka Modric also departing, Rodri remains on Real Madrid’s agenda. However, a move appears unlikely in the ongoing transfer window.
Conditions that must be met for Real Madrid to pursue Rodri
Now, according to Melchor Ruiz of COPE, for Real Madrid to consider a potential move for Manchester City midfielder Rodri, several conditions must be met before they make any attempt.

First, Manchester City would need to be open to his departure. The latest Ballon d’Or winner is under contract until 2027, so the Premier League giants are expected to demand a significant transfer fee. At this stage, Real Madrid is not prepared to pay such an amount.
On top of that, Los Blanco wants to observe how the midfielder recovers from his serious ACL injury.
If Rodri regains his top form, Real Madrid may consider making the investment, but only in next year’s transfer window.
So, any move for Rodri from Real Madrid’s part will wait until 2026 and will only be considered if Manchester City are willing to part ways with him for a reasonable fee and provided that the midfielder is back to his best after the ACL injury last season.
