NBA Summer League 2025 stats for ex-Louisville basketball players including Chucky Hepburn

How did the four former Louisville basketball players who were participating in the NBA Summer League fare? Here's a look at their stats.

Four former Louisville basketball players headed to Las Vegas this month for the NBA Summer League hoping to carve out a home for themselves at the sport's highest level.

Three of the ex-Cardinals made their professional debuts after going undrafted this summer: Terrence Edwards Jr., Chucky Hepburn and Reyne Smith. Hepburn signed a two-way deal with the Toronto Raptors, while Edwards and Smith earned invites to play with the Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets, respectively, at Cox Pavilion on UNLV's campus.

The fourth, Malik Williams, has spent most of his career in the G League with the Miami Heat's affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. He suited up with Edwards and the Bucks this summer, however.

In total, the former U of L players combined for an 8-8 record during the Summer League — although neither Edwards nor Smith logged a minute during their teams' first four games. Hepburn and the Raptors accounted for half of the wins, going undefeated in pool play before getting bounced in the semifinal round.

Here's a rundown of how each of the ex-Cards fared:

Edwards did not see the court for the Bucks in the Summer League until the team's final game, a 93-92 loss to the Miami Heat on July 18. In 8:36 of run, the 6-foot-6 guard/forward from Atlanta scored seven points on 3-for-6 shooting (0 for 1 from 3-point range) with four rebounds and two turnovers.

Chucky Hepburn

Louisville guard Chucky Hepburn (24) was applauded by the fans as he dribbled out the game against Pittsburgh at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky. on Mar. 1, 2025. Louisville won 79-68.

Hepburn appeared in all five of the Raptors' Summer League games (13.5 minutes per). The 6-2 point guard from Omaha, Nebraska, averaged 3.8 points on 22.7% shooting (23.5% from 3) with 3.6 assists against 1.6 turnovers, 1.2 steals and a rebound. His best performance from a scoring perspective in Vegas was his last, when he went for eight of his 19 total points in 9:15 of run during a 98-88 loss to the Sacramento Kings in the semifinals July 19. As a facilitator, he had five assists and did not commit a turnover across 16:02 during an 81-69 win over the Golden State Warriors on July 17.

Reyne Smith

Smith had quite the 24 hours to end his time at the Summer League. On July 18, the 6-2 guard from Australia finally saw the court for the Nuggets and made the most of it, scoring 17 points on 6-for-15 shooting (5 for 13 from 3) and dishing out three assists in 26:23 of run during a 106-84 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. His phone rang during a workout the following day; it was the Washington Wizards asking if he wanted to suit up for them on an hour's notice. He said yes and played 17:57 of a 94-85 win over the New York Knicks, scoring five points on 1-for-6 shooting with an assist and a steal.

Malik Williams

Williams appeared in all five of the Bucks' Summer League games (11.5 minutes per), then returned to Louisville to compete in The Basketball Tournament with a team of mostly former Cards. The 6-11 center from Fort Wayne, Indiana, averaged 4.4 points on 45% shooting (25% from 3) with 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists while in Vegas. His best performance came during the July 18 finale, when he went for seven points on 3-for-7 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds in 20:54 of run during the aforementioned one-point loss to the Heat.
