The Memphis Grizzlies star was one of many people who were taken aback.
Ja Morant Reacts In Disbelief After Ronald Acuña’s Throw Against Yankees originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant struggled with injuries yet again this past season, but now he has time to relax and watch other sports while he heals.
The 25-year-old played 50 games in 2024-25 due to a variety of ailments, including a right hip subluxation, pelvic muscle strains, and a right shoulder sprain. He also missed time in the playoffs after suffering a hip contusion, which is partly why Memphis got swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.
On Friday, Morant showed appreciation for another star athlete who has been through health problems. Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr. missed the rest of last season after tearing his ACL in May, but he's now back at full strength. The five-time All-Star made a throw against the New York Yankees that impressed Morant, which he expressed on social media.
"Wtf," Morant said.
Acuña caught a deep fly ball in right field during the top of the third inning and fired it to third base through the air, throwing out Yankees infielder Jorbit Vivas.

Acuña also went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored in the 7-3 win. The 27-year-old is now slashing .329/.442/.610 with 12 homers and 23 RBI over 46 games.
Braves starting pitcher Spencer Strider (4-7, 3.59 ERA) tossed six shutout innings and earned his fourth win of the season. However, Atlanta is still 9.5 games out of an NL Wild Card spot and 11.5 games out of first place in the NL East.
