USA Today still has no answers on Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders’ ongoing health issues

Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders' ongoing health issues remain a mystery to most in the industry.

Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders has not been able to meet many of his responsibilities this offseason, either for CU or in his personal life.

USA Today’s Brent Schrotenboer, typically the first messenger of most “Prime Time” related news, still has no idea what the illness was that prevented Coach Prime from being on the recruiting trail the past few months.

“He has a history of blood circulation issues in his legs, but it’s not clear if that’s related to his recent sabbatical,” Schrotenboer wrote.

The Spun’s Tzvi Machlin guesses that Sanders’ absence was related to his blood circulation issues, given what Sanders was seen doing on film.

“It's still not entirely clear what the health issue Sanders has been battling is. The entire Sanders family has agreed to stay quiet on the matter as the Hall of Famer heals,” Machlin wrote.

“But between the weighted vest he's been wearing and his well-documented medical history, it wouldn't be a big shock if it has something to do with foot or leg issues.”

Sanders’ return is becoming clearer. As Schrotenboer relayed, Sanders has made it clear he’ll be coaching for Colorado this fall.

“Colorado doesn’t open preseason football practice until late July and doesn’t open the season until Aug 29 against Georgia Tech. But Sanders indicated he’s coming back soon,” Schrotenboer wrote.

Beyond the 2025 season, though? That’s tougher to project for Coach Prime and “Prime Time” in Boulder.
