The money is coming.
Apparently, the Detroit Tigers aren't allowed to have good things.
With Tarik Skubal on the mound on Sunday Night Baseball, and the Tigers holding the best record in baseball, the conversation surrounding the AL Cy Young winner somehow turned to Skubal's free agency in a year and a half.
Here's what ESPN's Buster Olney had to say during the broadcast:
“Tarik Skubal is set to land 400 million after the 2026 season. The question is whether it will come from the Yankees, Dodgers or Mets.”
That might very well be true. It's also a long way off.
Skubal could pitch the clinching game of a World Series for the Tigers before then. That could very much change the equation.

Sure, it's logical to expect the Yankees, Mets and Dodgers to enter the picture for such a shiny free agent.
The Tigers could put up a fight, too.
Skubal will also surely have his say as an in-demand free agent.
It's certainly a bit annoying that instead of marveling at the Skubal and Tigers of the here and now, the ESPN broadcast chose to speculate about 18 months from now.
