Two-time All-NBA Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards, still just 23, has emerged as one of the league's top talents. With the 6-foot-4 Georgia swingman leading the way, Minnesota has made the Western Conference Finals for two straight seasons — despite significant roster turnover.

In a fresh interview with longtime NBA insider Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson, Edwards' longtime strategic partner, creative lead and visionary force, Nick Maddox, unpacked his history with the budding superstar.

Maddox has been friends with Edwards since they were teammates at Atlanta's Holy Spirit Prep.

“In high school on the court? Ant was a midrange player,” Maddox said. “He could get to his spot and pull up… Like SGA [MVP Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander], [New York Knicks All-NBA guard] Jalen Brunson — Ant was that guy.”

Robinson reveals that Maddox also suited up for their high school baseball team.

Maddox proved especially multifaceted, covering first and third base, serving as a designated hitter, and occasionally pitching and catching.

“I was a mixed breed,” Maddox chuckled about his baseball versatility.

When asked about which NBA player would thrive at baseball — beyond, of course, the hyper-athletic Edwards — Maddox had an answer ready.

“Excluding Ant, I’d say Jrue Holiday,” Maddox declared. “Just because I know his family history of being athletes.”

Holiday, 35, may be a bit past his athletic prime now, but the six-time All-Defensive Team guard and two-time All-Star remains a savvy, skilled two-way talent with impressive lateral agility. Edwards and Holiday were teammates on the gold medal-winning 2024 Paris Olympics men's basketball team.

Last year on the Boston Celtics, Holiday's output seemed impeded by a lingering mallet finger injury. Still the 6-foot-4 UCLA product averaged 11.1 points on .443/.353/.909 shooting splits, 4.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.1 steals a night. He was flipped to the Portland Trail Blazers earlier this summer, in a money-saving trade to acquire combo guard Anfernee Simons.

“I’ve been with Anthony since his rookie year, working full time around the clock, non-stop,” Maddox revealed. “Even while finishing up my college degree.”

Per Robinson, Maddox attended Toccoa Falls College, where he majored in Business Administration and minored in Sports Management.

Now, Maddox is just as versatile a contributor ot Edwards' brand as he once was on a baseball diamond.

“I wear many hats,” Maddox revealed of his collaboration with Edwards. “But I would say Logistics Consultant… Creative Lead when it comes to different ideas in advertisements and marketing… confidant… but formally, the Lead Consultant of Logistics.”
