David Pollack Delivers Clear Verdict on DJ Lagway Ahead of 2025 Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway burst onto the scene as a freshman during the 2024 college football season.
He appeared in 12 games, finishing with 1,915 yards through the air, 12 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Lagway won his final four starts and has some serious momentum going into the 2025 college football season. The Gators finished the 2024 season with an 8-5 record, their best record since the Billy Napier era began.
Napier will try to get them back to winning double-digit games in 2025, but to David Pollack, it comes down to Lagway.
"The Florida Gators come down to absolutely one thing, and it's DJ Lagway," Pollack said on "See Ball Get Ball with David Pollack." "Like, how good is he? Because the elite DJ Lagway is as elite as anybody in the country. And I know that sounds strange, but like I'm putting him up there with Leavitt. I'm putting him up there with Klubnik. I'm putting him up there as high as you want to put him up there."
"The fast ball, the deep ball, the arm is insane. Like, it doesn't take a backseat to many people in college football. How much did last year help him gain experience? I trust this, Brent. I trust his heart. I trust his toughness because I saw him pop his hamstring and come back and still continue to fight for his team a couple weeks later."
Fans will get to see Lagway in action when the Gators start the 2025 season against the Long Island Sharks on August 30.
Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. ET.
