There's reason to believe that the Philadelphia Phillies could be in the mix for Kyle Tucker during the offseason. It remains unclear how much the Phillies would be willing to give the left-handed hitting outfielder, but they need some juice in their lineup, and Tucker provides that and more. 

Not only do the Phillies need to improve their lineup, but they've been searching for an outfielder for the better part of the past two and a half seasons.

When speaking to reporters, including those from the Chicago Sun-Times, during the All-Star Game, it didn't sound like Tucker was overly confident that an extension would be completed prior to the end of the campaign. 

This would be good news for the Phillies, considering they'd have an opportunity to sign him.

“You never know,” he said. “Things can change at any point. I’m just kind of riding it out and we’ll see how things go. Just trying to do my job in the field and let other stuff take care of itself.”

Obviously, if the Phillies want him, they'd have to get an opportunity to even try. 

If the Chicago Cubs extend him before that, Philadelphia would be without an opportunity. 

Regarding his potential price, the Chicago Sun-Times noted that $500 million seems to be in play. 

“As top-notch as Tucker is with his bat, with his glove and on the bases, the 28-year-old might be best of all at saying essentially nothing in regard to a potential extension with the Cubs — $500 million, anyone? — or a foray into free agency,” they wrote.
