Louis Esposito, son of Michigan DL coach, commits to Wolverines football

Saline's Louis Esposito, son of Michigan DL coach Lou Esposito, committed to join the 2027 Wolverines, likely projecting as an interior OL player.

The Michigan football program has its first commit in the 2027 cycle and the name is a familiar one.

Louis Esposito, son of U-M defensive line coach Lou Esposito, pledged to join the Wolverines on Sunday, July 20. The offensive lineman out of nearby Saline stands 6 feet 4 and 255 pounds, likely projecting as an interior player in college.

He shared the news on his social media.

Esposito stood out earlier this summer at the National College Showcase at Wayne State University, just after his recruitment had started to heat up.

Michigan defensive line coach Lou Esposito watches a play during the second half of the spring game at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

His father told the Free Press recently that earlier in July, the family took a vacation to Cancun and other staffers reached out to him “every day” exemplifying their interest.

Esposito, a three-star prospect, has received 14 offers per 247Sports, which included Pittsburgh and Purdue. Per the site’s composite rankings, Esposito is the No. 9 player in the state, No. 34 interior offensive lineman and No. 510 player nationally in the class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Michigan, thus far, does not have a single in-state recruit in the 2026 class, but that looks like it won’t be the case for the rising junior class.
