Caitlin Clark shared terrible news on Thursday when she announced she wouldn't be taking part in the 2025 WNBA All-Star Weekend, which would be her second consecutive one.
Clark eclipsed last season's fan vote record with 1,293,526. The prior record also belonged to her, but her impact and popularity continue to increase among fans.
The former No. 1 overall pick has dealt with a groin injury this season, which has limited her to only 13 games of the 23 the Indiana Fever have played. Clark averages 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game, shooting 36.7% from the field, 27.9% from deep and 82% from the free-throw line.
The 23-year-old stars shared a statement on Instagram to let fans know she wouldn't be active for the big event. Three days after re-aggravating her groin injury against the Connecticut Sun, Clark said she was "incredibly sad and disappointed" that she wouldn't be part of the 3-Point Contest and All-Star Game.
While she won't be on the court playing with the rest of Team Clark, the second-year guard plans to be active on the sideline. In a conversation with "Good Morning America" (via Yahoo Sports) on Friday, Clark stated she will try to help her team, especially her Fever teammates Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, from the sidelines.

The 2025 season has been complex for Clark. She was already dealing with health issues since preseason. After the regular season started, she had to be extra cautious about her body, which resulted in 10 games missed so far.
Team Clark will clash against Team Collier on Saturday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Fever teammate Lexie Hull will take her place in the 3-Point Contest while Brittney Sykes will replace her on Team Clark.
This had everything to be a special weekend for Clark, especially considering that she would be in front of her fans. That said, the Fever want to allow her to heal during the All-Star break.
