Three major operations are ongoing within the Etihad Stadium this summer as Manchester City close in on the start of the brand new 2025/26 campaign.
With the new season just weeks away and pre-season preparations due to begin at the end of this month, City have simultaneously turned attention towards key upgrades at their home ground.
Significant developments are well underway as part of a multi-phase project that aims to future-proof the Etihad Stadium, enhance the matchday experience for fans, and increase long-term commercial capabilities.
Among the most anticipated upgrades is the ongoing expansion of the North Stand – a key part of the stadium’s capacity upgrade. The development, once complete, will take the Etihad’s seating to over 60,000, making it a major asset for hosting marquee European nights.
Elsewhere, focus has also been placed on improving the visual and digital experience for supporters inside the ground. The club’s commitment to improving stadium infrastructure has extended beyond just seating, with internal works also planned around new fan zones, digital concourses, and immersive screen experiences in various sections of the stadium.
In new photos issued by Manchester City’s official social media channels this week, updates have been provided by the club on the work ongoing within the Etihad ahead of the start of the new 2025/26 campaign.
Over in the North Stand, and construction continues on the stadium’s expansion with the new roof now in place over the expanded seating area. The sky blue seats are yet to be put into place however, but it gives supporters an exciting insight into what they can expect soon.
As for the Etihad Stadium’s playing surface, work remains ongoing in changing and refreshing the grass for City’s stars, with their new Premier League campaign beginning with an away clash against Wolves on Saturday 16 August, before hosting Tottenham the following weekend.
Finally, in the South Stand, supporters can expect the addition of a third new giant screen to be added into the stadium bowl, which the club say will be the largest of the displays currently on show to enhance fan experience on a matchday.

These developments come as part of a broader strategy from City and the wider City Football Group to elevate the Etihad Campus into one of Europe’s most complete footballing destinations.
The Etihad Stadium upgrades complement the wider ecosystem being developed in East Manchester, with the Co-op Live Arena now fully operational and providing year-round entertainment alongside the football calendar.
With additional changes also taking place around the club’s fan engagement model — including the ‘City Are Back’ open training day and growing influence of digital content activations — it is expected that matchdays at the Etihad will look and feel more immersive than ever before by the time Tottenham visit on the weekend of 23 August.
