Astros add former top prospect to MLB roster to complete improbable MLB comeback

Jon Singleton is back.

More than a decade after he made his MLB debut for the Astros, Jon Singleton is back, again.

Singleton has been called up to Houston for Sunday's game, according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart.

This will mark the lefty slugger's third separate stint with the Astros, joining 2014-15 and 2023-24.

Singleton signed with the Astros organization on June 22, and about a month later, he's coming up.

The lefty slugger was a top prospect for Houston after they traded with the Phillies to acquire him more than a decade ago, and the Astros even gave Singleton a contract extension before his MLB debut.

He hit below .200 in his first big league exposure, then dealt with substance abuse problems and spent time in the Mexican league.

Singleton made it back to MLB with the Brewers, then rejoined Houston in 2023 and 2024. In 2024, he hit .234 with 13 homers.

He was previously with the Mets organization this season.

Since joining Triple-A Sugar Land, the 33-year old has batted .254/.427/.460 with four homers in 18 games.

And now, Singleton is back with the Astros.
