Chelsea have set an asking price of around £5m for Alfie Gilchrist as multiple Championship clubs chase a deal.

Gilchrist spent last season on loan at Sheffield United and is now set for a permanent exit in search of regular first-team football.

The 21-year-old made 32 appearances in all competitions for the Blades, who agonisingly missed out on promotion after losing the play-off final to Sunderland.

Several sides have enquired about the defender this summer, with journalist Ben Jacobs reporting that Derby, Watford, Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers are all interested.

Chelsea have no plans to sanction another loan move as things stand and want a fee of around £5m for Gilchrist.

Saudi Pro League sides have also shown interest in Gilchrist, who made 17 senior appearances for Chelsea during a breakthrough 2023/24 campaign.

He was named the club’s Academy Player of the Year for 2024 but now looks set to move on amid the competition for places at Stamford Bridge.
