Former Real Madrid forward and ex-sporting director Predrag Mijatovic has shared his opinion on Marcus Rashford’s transfer to Barcelona.
Speaking to the SER (h/t AS), Mijatovic acknowledged the English striker’s potential but pointed out concerns about his recent form.
“Rashford is a player who was once expected to become a real star, but he’s been through a very poor run of performances,” Mijatovic said.
He also commented on Barcelona’s decision to take Rashford on loan, suggesting it may be linked to financial limitations.
“When you go for a loan deal like this, it is either because you don’t have the money or because you’re not sure he’s going to play well.”
A third choice
Barcelona are now close to finalising Rashford’s loan deal from Manchester United, with an option to make the move permanent next summer for just €35 million.

The agreement also includes a 25% salary reduction on Rashford’s side, with Barcelona covering his full wages during his stay.
This shows real commitment from the English forward, who has pushed for the move since the end of his recent loan spell at Aston Villa.
It is important to note that Rashford was not Barcelona’s first choice. The club initially wanted to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Club, but the winger chose to renew his contract for the second summer in a row.
Barcelona then tried to explore a deal for Luis Díaz from Liverpool, but the financial terms were out of reach.
That led the Catalan club to focus on Rashford, especially after he was pushed towards the exit at Manchester United by manager Ruben Amorim.
For Rashford, the move to Barcelona is an opportunity for a fresh start in La Liga, while for Barcelona, it is a calculated gamble on a player still capable of reaching his best form.
