LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — World champion competitive eater Joey Chestnut was on hand for “Olive Burgers Night” at Jackson Field, but the Lugnuts did not relish in a victory on Saturday night.

The Lugnuts fell 15-4 to the Whitecaps for their second straight loss.

West Michigan collected 19 hits in the victory and hit four home runs.

Chestnut, the 17-time Mustard Belt Champion at the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, posed for pictures with fans and signed autographs on the concourse during the game.

This was the second time Chestnut has ventured to Jackson Field for Olive Burgers Night. When he came in 2023, he set a new world record by eating 13 olive burgers in five minutes.

While he didn’t participate in any sort of eating challenge this time around, he did enjoy an olive burger or two just for fun.

“Last time I was here I found about what olive burgers were so I made them at home and I was like ‘oh yeah, I like them,'” said Chestnut. “I committed to coming and I made the record. This time I’m coming and I’m enjoying them for fun. So it’s actually, it’s great. I love to eat but I also like to set records.”

The Lugnuts wrap up their series with the Whitecaps on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1:05p.m.
