Shrewsbury 7, Monson 1: Brayden Mercier struck out nine and gave up two hits over five innings, while Andrew Schmit tripled twice, walked and scored three times to lead host Post 397 in the first round Region 3 Tournament at Fitton Field.
Shrewsbury will play the winner of Saturday's game between Lowell and Wilbraham at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Leominster 6, Northampton 5: A.J. Wozniak plated the winning run with a well-placed squeeze bunt in the top of the seventh to send Post 151 past Northampton in the first round of the Region 1 Tournament at Belchertown High.
Mark Garner had two hits for Leominster, while Cam Cirone and Brendan Mariani each drove in two runs and Alex Coco earned the win in relief.
Leominster will face the winner of Saturday's game between Belchertown and Winchendon at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
Northborough 5, Swampscott 3: Owen Ellsworth went the distance and fanned eight, while Nick Klein singled, doubled and scored twice, Ethan Chan added two singles and Nolan Whelan (2 RBIs) and Cam Citro (RBI) each doubled as Post 234 topped Swampscott in the first round of the Region 6 Tournament at Beverly High.
Northborough will play Hudson at 2 p.m. Sunday at Beverly High School.
Hudson 4, Beverly 3: Shamus Rowe led off the bottom of the fourth with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly from Michael Benway to give Post 100 a win over host Beverly in the first round of the Region 6 Tournament.
Garrett Mahoney doubled and drove in two runs and Nathan Machado struck out two and gave up one hit over 1⅔ scoreless innings of relief to seal the win.
Futures Collegiate Baseball League
Bravehearts 7, Westfield 1: Former Shrewsbury High star David Siciliano struck out eight and allowed one run on one hit over five innings, while Keegan Antelman pitched three one-hit innings of scoreless relief and Josh Fischer slammed the door with two strikeouts in a perfect ninth to propel the host Bravehearts (33-12) past the Starfires (10-35) at Fitton Field.
Evan O'Rourke led the offense after going 3 for 4, stealing two bases and driving in a run, while Mason Clark and Casey Wensley each singled, doubled and drove in a run and Jaylem Sepulveda singled and drove in a pair.
