OG Anunoby sings high praise for the New York Knicks

Anunoby recently shared his thoughts about playing for the Knicks

New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby

OG Anunoby’s arrival to the Knicks can be considered as the start of the team’s championship window, going from a team on the brink of contention, to a team now in the thick of it since showing up during the 2023-24 season.

Anunoby was traded to the Knicks from the Toronto Raptors for RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley. At the time, many fans felt indifferent about the trade, acknowledging what Anunoby brings to the table, but also feeling as thought the Knicks gave up too much.

Now, the impact he has brought has made most Knicks fans completely forget about those two homegrown talents.

That season, the Knicks were 20-3 in games that Anunoby appeared in. The team would make it to the second round of the playoffs, and then bring Anunoby back on a five-year, $212 million contract.

Anunoby would then go on to be a big part of this past season’s run to the Eastern Conference Finals, averaging a career-high 18.0 points per game along with 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

The Knicks are certainly happy to have Anunoby along for the ride, and Anunoby is just as happy to have landed in New York. In an interview with Forbes, Anunoby spoke highly of the team he has spent the last season and a half with.

“I've been in New York the last year and a half and I've loved every second of it,” he said. “New York has the best fans. I love my teammates, I love my coaches, I love everyone. It's awesome being here.”

The Knicks and Anunoby will now turn their attention to next season where they are presumed favorites in the Eastern Conference thanks to crippling injuries and roster adjustments to the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, and Indiana Pacers.
