The Whitefish Bay U13 Intermediate Little League team became the first Wisconsin team to qualify for their World Series in California.
Whitefish Bay baseball continues to make waves.
Not long after the community produced two Major League Baseball draft picks — for the second year in a row — the Whitefish Bay U13 Little League team reached the intermediates World Series, becoming the first Wisconsin team at that level to qualify for the showcase in Livermore, California.
The age level is one older than the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, though the 13-year-olds will get a chance to appear on the ESPN+ streaming service when the tournament begins July 27 and runs through Aug. 3. Whitefish Bay, the Central Region champion, will play its first game at 2 p.m. CT on Sunday, July 27.
Like the Little League World Series, the final game features a United States champion facing off with an international champion. The age level is one year behind the "Juniors" level, which featured a Whitefish Bay team in the World Series in 2022, also the first Wisconsin team to qualify for that age level of the World Series.
The intermediate team mostly rampaged through the Central Region tournament in Ankeny, Iowa, defeating teams from Iowa (5-0), Ohio (19-0), Indiana (6-5) and Michigan (10-0).
Players on the team include Chase Adam, Tyler Arnold, Mateo Blake, Ben Currie, Stu Dickerson, Teddy Dickerson, Hudson Fox, Will Gee, Wyatt Gray, Josh Irwin, Dutch McCartan, Julian Pande and Adrian Van Caster.
Arnold is the son of Milwaukee Brewers general manager Matt Arnold.
Coaches of the team include head coach Kyle Fox and assistants Russ Pande, Andy Van Caster, Brant McCartan and Keith Dickerson.
