Caitlin Clark’s Replacement for WNBA All-Star Game Fuels Speculation originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The 2025 WNBA All-Star break is officially underway, hosted in Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the Indiana Fever. This year's captains are Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier, who drafted their rosters on July 8.
During Indiana's 85-77 victory against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, Clark left the game with under a minute to go in the 4th quarter after an apparent right groin injury. Subsequently, she sat out for the team's matchup against the New York Liberty, who snapped the Fever's three-game win streak.
On Thursday, Clark and the Fever announced she would not be participating in this year's 3-point contest or the All-Star game, stating that she will be assisting this year's coach, Sandy Brondello, in leading her team to victory.
Since this announcement, fans are predicting Clark's replacement on social media.
"Hamby/Stevens needs to be there," said a fan.
"May I suggest Lexie Hull," said another fan.
"Natasha Cloud is right thereeeeee," said another.
"Natasha Cloud is right there with Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart Come on Cathy get it together please," one fan wrote.
Another wrote, "Cloud should get the nod."

Clark is not the only All-Star who will miss the big game. Phoenix Mercury forward Satou Sabally, also a part of Clark's roster, will be a non-participant due to an ankle injury.
Ultimately, it will be up to WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert to name replacements who are still available for Clark and Sabally.
